Anyone who has spent much time watching music in the back rooms of pubs in Cambridge over the past several years will surely have stumbled across singer-songwriter Paul Goodwin at least once. He's the slightly awkward one who looks like he really doesn't enjoy being watched by so many eyes, but who nevertheless manages to silence every chattering drinker halfway through his first song. It's not out until the new year, but his upcoming album, Scars, is definitely worth the wait. A scrapbook of his best songs from the last eight or nine years, it's a perfect introduction. Perfect for wallowing in on a dark winter's night.
